OUR VISION
Physio Works Kapiti started in 2015 with a simple vision in mind - to deliver the best customer service and clinical care pathways for all our patients. Since then we have set about delivering our vision for how we believe a Physiotherapy service should be experienced.
Musculoskeletal injuries have the potential to cause pain and prevent us from performing at our daily best. Physiotherapy at Physio Works Kapiti encompasses an accurate assessment and diagnosis, effective treatment planning and the best rehabilitation to allow you to perform at your best.

The team at Physio Works Kapiti is made up of skilled wellness professionals who are dedicated to getting our patients back to optimal health. We offer a range of specializations and skills to meet the individual needs of each one of our patients.

PAUL MAUGA
Director and Advanced Physiotherapist
BPhty (Otago); PG Cert (Acup), MH Prac (Musculo) (AUT)
Paul studied Physiotherapy in Otago University and qualified in 1999. Since graduating he has worked both in hospitals and private practices in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
In 2009 he completed his Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and gained Post-graduate qualifications in Western Acupuncture.
Paul has worked with a number of elite athletes and sporting teams over the years and enjoys adapting his skills to the broad spectrum of clients he sees. He has a special interest in spinal injuries, shoulder and knee injuries.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys as well as running, mountain biking and weight training.
KATE MAUGA
Director & Neurological Rehabilitation Physiotherapist
BPhty (Otago), PG Cert Neurorehab (AUT)
Kate completed her Physiotherapy degree at Otago University in 1999 and postgraduate studies in neurorehabilitation at AUT in 2007. Kate has worked in rehabilitation in New Zealand and the United Kingdom both in hospitals and community based services. Kate has worked with people with a wide range of neurological conditions and has particular interest in the rehabilitation of stroke, head injury and spinal cord injury. Kate is also able to provide vestibular rehabilitation and treat BPPV.
Kate is kept busy raising their two young sons and enjoys running, going to the gym and getting into the outdoors with her family.


ELTON SUE
Physiotherapist
BPhty (AUT)
Elton completed his Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from AUT since 2018. After graduating Elton worked in Hamilton in Private Practice and with Premiere Rugby teams before moving to the Kapiti Coast in 2022. Elton works with clients with Musculoskeletal injuries, Sports athletes and does work with the Elderly in Rest home care. In his spare time Elton enjoys going to the gym and spending time with his family and friends.
CAT POULTER
Advanced Physiotherapist
BPhty (Otago); PGD Sport and Excercise Medicine (Otago)
Cat has over 15 years’ experience as a Physiotherapist since completing her Degree in 2007 in Otago. She has also gone on to do a Post-graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine from Otago as well as numerous post-graduate courses. Cat has had a lot of experience with competitive Sport and Exercise and this enables her to bring those skills to her clients’ recovery. Cat is one of Physio Works’ Advanced clinicians, and she also a Clinical Pilates practitioner through MOVE Pilates. She finds the benefits of this approach excellent for injury rehabilitation and prevention as well as improving the conditioning of Athletes. Away from the clinic, Cat loves off-road trail running and training for running events.


JAY SHAW
Advanced Physiotherapist
BPhty (Otago)
Jay gained a Bachelor's degree in physio from the University of Otago in 2010. She has worked extensively in private practice helping people with musculoskeletal, occupational, post-surgical and sports related injuries.
Her post-graduate training includes Manual Therapy, Clinical Pilates, Kinesiotape, Dry-needle acupuncture, Spinal & Shoulder rehabilitation, Myofascial Soft Tissue Release and Occupational Physiotherapy. In her spare time Jay enjoys gym training, hunting and diving.

PRICING
If an accident has caused your condition, your treatment costs may be part covered by ACC. Feel free to discuss this with us should you feel you qualify.
ABOUT ACC
An accident is defined as a event in which an external force causes an injury and has occurred at a particular time and place. This may have been at home or a work, during your leisure time or while playing sport. If your injury has been caused by an accident we can register your claim with ACC without the need to go to your doctor.
Payment is required at the time of your appointment. We accept cash or EFTPOS transactions
Late cancellations and missed appointments exclude others from receiving treatment. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please call reception at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled time. An answer phone messaging system is in place for out of hours. Failure to notify us will incur a fee of $57. Should the fee be unpaid, no further bookings for appointments will be permitted
